With each step, you will find yourself further away from the mundane, closer to our final destination- the Lamjung Himal Base Camp. The elevation will bring a new chill to the air, and the snow-drenched peaks of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre loomed larger than ever. Carefully, only guided by the sun, we will walk across the steep hill ridge, traversing around rocks and snow-filled ravines. We will discover ice deposits shaped by the weather, filling us with admiration. Finally, after a lengthy trek, we will arrive at our campsite for the night. Our aching muscles and weary feet will be rewarded with the breathtaking view of the mountain range. We will fill our stomachs with the warm dinner and then stretch out to gaze at the stars in the night sky.
Beginning our trek in the shadows of the mighty Himalayas, we will make our way slowly downwards at 2,900 m/ 9,514 ft, towards the village of Singaligoth. It’ll be an experience of a lifetime as we pass through some of the most beautiful sceneries imaginable. Lush green barley fields, carpeted in vibrant wildflowers, and framed by the crystal-clear waters of the streams, will be our companions as we take each step. The melodic chirps of the birds will provide the perfect calming soundscape that will carry us down the winding, narrow trails. With each step, the elevation will gradually decrease until we arrive at Singaligoth when the darkness of night envelopes the land. We will have made it to our destination, with our senses filled with the beauty of nature and our bodies strengthened by the journey.
A day of renewal and exploration awaits us on day 10. We embark on a 5-6 hour trek from Singaligoth to Siklesh, taking in the breathtaking views of the Himalayas along the way. The trail winds through hills and mountains, descending and ascending, with the occasional rest break to appreciate the unique diversity of Nepalese wildlife we’re sure to encounter. We will eventually reach Sikles, a quaint mountain village perched atop a high peak. Entirely inhabited by the Gurung communities, Siklesh is also known for its many Gurkha soldiers, who join the British and Indian armies. Overnight, we will rest in the comfort of a tented camp or homestay. We will begin the day with a hearty breakfast, followed by a light lunch to re-energize us for the trek. As the sun sets, we’ll enjoy a tasty dinner as we soak up the fresh mountain air and magnificent views of the surrounding peaks. Tired but invigorated from the trek, we will rest easy knowing that we’re one step closer to achieving our goal. A day of adventure and the beauty of nature awaits us on the next leg of our journey.
The morning will start with a stimulating reward. Our stomachs will be content with the delicious breakfast before we leave the last view of Siklesh. At this point, we will start making our way to Pokhara. As we drive, we will experience the contrast of harvested hillsides and serene woodlands along with gleaming lakes.
